MEADOWIND MINIATURES

BRANDON WINTER FAIR

MINIATURE HORSE DISPLAY

During Spring Break March 28 - April 3, 2004, Meadowind Miniatures, Bartkewich Miniatures & Arabs & Country Lane Miniatures teamed up to present an educational display promoting Miniatures Horses. Over 100,000 visitors visited the fair during the week.

This little cowboy had to get right down on his knees to see how these things are made!

Another little guy stood totally still and didn't say a word for a moment. Then he ventured - "It smells like a horse. Is it a horse?"

They especially liked rubbing their hands over the clipped coat of the miniatures. They said it felt like velvet; others said it felt like carpet. One little boy said it felt like the top if his daddy's head! Sure enough, there was dad with his crew cut!

More than one person was startled as they came along the aisle to see a horse standing in our booth, realizing it was a real horse and not a stuffed horse.

Moms couldn't resist the Baby on Horseback pose!

When things were quiet, which was not very often, Shannon and Frost watched our tapes of the AMHR 2003 Nationals.

It was fun to sit back and watch one another answer questions from the public. One lady asked if we breed miniatures. Rod answered "yes" and she went on to ask "How do you do that?" As we snickered in the background, Rod kept his composure and replied, "Well we have stallions and mares and we raise a few foals each year." That satisfied her and off she went!

We held a raffle for "Tamaracs Morning Frost", in order to raise funds for our summer show which will take place on June 12 (AMHR) & June 13 (AMHA) in Brandon Manitoba.

One always worries about where the little guy will end up when you do a draw, so we required all minors to have parents' permission before they could enter. We also stated on the ticket that the horse would not be released until proof of proper care and facilities was provided. We didn't have to worry in 2004. The winner was a Grandad who drives a pair of ponies and who had put his name in on behalf of his Grandkids. We've been telling him for years he needed to get a miniature. Now he's got one!

Everyone gathered around on Saturday night to see who the lucky person was, that would get to take Frost home.
